Kanye West 'The Life Of Pablo' | Album Review
Possibly the most anticipated album of 2015/2016. By now we are all aware that nothing is straight forward with Yeezy. Album title went from SHMG (So Help Me God) to Swish to Waves and finally settling on TLOP (The Life Of Pablo). The album was scheduled to drop on Feb 11, same time as the Yeezy Season 3. West tweeted the album was going to drop later that day as it was just being mastered. TLOP still hadn't dropped on the 12th. Kanye tweeted-
It’s Chance's fault the album not out yet… he really wanted Waves on that Bitch… we in the lab now...

Anyway back to the MUSIC!!
TLOP is on point. A classic album. Im on my fifth listen and I'm still not bored. There is a bit of every past album on TLOP. Ebro states in a recent interview that Kanye says TLOP is a journey of all his past work which really makes sense when you listen. It is a really good balance of the old and new- every thing we like about kanye is on this album- the soulful cuts, the crazy beats. Lyrical content may have moved on a bit from the Kanye we fell in love with on earlier work. Yes we don't still expect dude to rap about the same things and I'm in no way stating that the lyrical content is lacking. What I'm saying is his assholery gets the better of him at times but it's all part of the entertainment. I guess super-celebrity status does that to you. The worst is the Taylor Swift jab which got the media all hype like Kanye's just sparking up old shit- 'I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex,' on Famous or my favourite, the jab at Ray J - 'I bet Me and Ray J be friends, if we ain't love the same b*tch, yeah I'm mad mad he hit it first, only problem is I'm rich..' on Highlights. Amid all the fuckery, the dude is still a musical genius. The production is lit though it may seem rushed, but that is the art of the game. He picks the right guests and gives them idealized settings, making people you don't care about sound fantastic and people you do care about sound immortal. He is the best at what he does and it shows a lot on The Life Of Pablo. Kanye claimed that the "Pablo" of the title was neither Escobar nor Picasso, but St. Paul of Tarsus ("Pablo" in Spanish). The claim slots neatly with his assertion that The Life of Pablo is a "gospel album. If that is the case then Ultralight Beam makes sense as St Paul, then Saul, was stuck by light on his was to Damascus. 'This is a God Dream'
Paul ... The most powerful messenger of the first century... Now we stand here 20 centuries later... Because he was a traveler...

The Life Of Pablo is available now on Tidal. Check it out and enjoy it. (You may have noticed I did not say much about the music, I did not want to mess up your judgement. You can make up your own mind about it. Personally I think it's 🔥🔥🔥)
